Can you Overclock a SCUF Controller?

Yes, you can overclock your SCUF controller and although they come with many input-shortening benefits, the polling rate can still be increased and the latency reduced. SCUF controllers, although majorly upgraded and come with better triggers, more triggers, and things such as trigger stops, still have the DS4, DS5, or whatever controller board comes with the base controller.

It is possible that some SCUF controllers could come overclocked with a higher polling rate, but most of the time this will not be the case, as they want to be clear of any responsibility of your controller being overclocked. You see this a lot with not only controllers, but with GPUs, CPUs, and motherboards. It is safe to overclock your controller, however, so let’s get into that.

How to Overclock SCUF Controller

Make sure to have your SCUF controller plugged into your computer via cable and please go through the following steps:

Download WinRAR. (https://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0)
Download the Overclocking Driver/ software for the Scuff controller. (https://github.com/LordOfMice/hidusbf)
Use a USB-C cable to connect the SCUF controller through any PC.
Extract all downloaded files.
Open the ‘Driver’ file from the list of extracted files.
Set up the file and allow all changes requested.
A new tab appears. Go to the top left, and search for ‘Devices.’ Click on the drop-down, and choose ‘All.’
Change to ‘1000’ on the right of ‘Filter on Device.’ Check ‘Filter on Device.’
Click on Install Service.
Disconnect the controller and reconnect (Unplug the controller and plug it in again).
With the ‘Rate’ column at 1000, the controller’s latency can be as low as 1 ms.

Is it Worth Overclocking a SCUF Controller

Absolutely, if you are a competitive gamer, which, if you have a SCUF, then you most likely are, then increasing the polling rate is a no-brainer for you. Think of it as decreasing the amount of time that your computer takes to recognize the button inputs of your controller.

There are only benefits to this, as long as you are conservative with your polling rate changes and don’t deviate from the steps.
